Deanne Eccles
Deanne Eccles was inspired with her works of the Sublime, by the theory which was put forward by Edmund Burke, as a philosophical enquiry about the Sublime and the Beautiful, 1757. He defined the Sublime as an “artistic effect productive of the strongest emotion the mind is capable of feeling”. Amazement, awe, wonder, grief and suffering etc. The Sublime is not just a positive or elated emotion. Burke saw it as something which was founded in dread, especially fear caused by the prospect of dying. Deanne is exploring the abstract realm of the Sublime by which there is no literal story before the onlooker, but an inner exploration of the self.
